Each month this year we are aiming to shine the spotlight on a Wanneroo Repertory member who deserves a big shout out for their hard work and dedication to our club.
Our first behind the scenes star is Ros Guye, our Treasurer who is also often found stage right, stage managing a show!
Originally from the UK Ros joined Godalming Theatre Group twenty five years ago. When Ros and partner Alan Brock came to Australia in 2001they immediately put their feelers out for more boards to tread on and found the Limelight Theatre. A friend mentioned this great theatre so they decided to come along and see what it was all about. The rest is history!
Ros was first “roped in” to play in the chorus for High Society but thereafter found her niche back stage working with Margaret Gardener. She enjoyed Stage Managing for many plays and musicals especially Phantom of the Opera (2013) and Blitz! The Musical (2016) finding both very challenging with intricate sets and many changes. ‘The secret’, Ros says, ‘is to have a great backstage crew and I fortunately have had some of the best.’
Ros’ many years experience as a dealership accountant in London has come in handy when she was asked to take on the role of club
Treasurer in early 2016 due to the departure of Bob Mainwaring. Ros has enjoyed her time as Treasurer, where amongst other things she has helped successfully set up the new ticketing system.
Ros and Alan will be leaving Western Australia (and Wanneroo Rep) for Melbourne and the Gold Coast to join their family. They hope to find a theatre to join on the Gold Coast. Although they have their eye on a couple of clubs, they have yet to see whether they meet their high standards!
We wish Ros and Alan all the best for their big move and hope they find another theatre family soon. Their passion, dedication and good humour will be sorely missed at the Limelight Theatre.
