From the Acting President – January 2017

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year to all our members and friends!

I am a little late with this month’s newsletter—my apologies for that—but as I am sure you are all aware, this is a very busy time in everyone’s calendar, and mine is no exception!

I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little more about what your committee has been up to in this past year, and how vital it is that we encourage both new blood and continuity for the year ahead.

We established, and frequently revisit, our Strategic Plan and financial business plan along with an action plan which has been split into several categories. It is as a consequence of this that we have been able to better define the roles of the various committee members for the future. It is wonderful to have willing hands, but like any good play, they need a good script.

As with most organisations where we rely on volunteers, and because the few take on many jobs, we tend to exhaust the willing hands who often find themselves overwhelmed.

The executive structure of the committee will remain the same, but with specifically defined roles. It is the previous “5 committee members without portfolio” where the biggest change has been mooted. These roles will now be—Membership Secretary/Volunteer Coordinator, Theatre Manager, Publicity Coordinator, Production Manager and Theatre Maintenance Manager. Non-Committee positions also need to be filled—a new position of Webmaster, plus Wardrobe, Front of House, Lighting, Sound, Properties and Soft Furniture Managers. So, please think about where you might be able to fit in to the scheme of things and let 2017 be the year you make a commitment to Wanneroo Repertory Inc.

Our AGM will be on the 29th March this year and many positions will be vacated, and nominations called. There will be a separate mail out next month giving you full details of the nomination process and the various roles to be filled.
